Post Browning X-bolt
any one out there have the browning X-bolt? I have a A-bolt and a BLR lightweight and I like them both very well. I have been reading up on the X-bolt and like what I am reading on the X-bolt. the thing I am likeingis the clip, no top loading and no hinged floor plate, none of the gun shops in my area have one in stock to get a feel for it. the kicker is the modle I am likeing is going to be disscontinued and there is only 3 left in the where house in 22-250, I was talking with a gun dealer on the phone last night and he said he could put a hold on one and I am hopeing he can order it today. so I guess I was wondering what Y'all think of the X-bolt...

Whitedog when I was in Georgia last spring they had a little Rem model 798 with a 20 in barrel and it was the sweetest little gun you could ever imagine and they had it for 298 at Bass Pro. I am not much of a Browning fan since they moved to china.

I'm also not a Browning fan, the last good gun they had was an "A-5".
I have not handled an "Xbolt".

I have a browning A-bolt and its a great shooting rifle, I have made many 500 yard shots on deer and I am realy excited to be back into reloading as to see what kinda gun it will be now with good loads it is a 300 win mag. I have other brownings but I dont use them much. lot of guys I hunt with and know love the brownings. as for made out of country not much is made in the U.S. any more. outside of toyota, thats about it. and the stuff that you do still find made in the U.S. is junk. but any how I ordered the browning should be here mid week. I got a good price on it. will know how it is by the end of the week I will report back how it works...

Alot of it comes down to personal preference, more than where its made.
For me its the mechanics, I don't like the short bolt throw, or the two peice bolt, or, the trigger, but thats just me. If the gun shoots well, I'm sure it will do fine for you.

I hear yeah there duane. for me I have never been able to find a bolt through short enough for me, I have a guy here that completly rebuilds the triggers on the brownings, when he is done there isnt any travel in it, they are nice and crisp and just under 3 pounds if you like them that light, I do like the after market trigger on my remington custom gun. I go through guns and when I find one I like for a kind of hunting I will stick with it for a long time, I have a full season on the remington and it just dont fit the bill, going to try something else now. I will shoot the x for a while and see what I want done with it and then take it to brian for custom work as I see fit. it is all kinda what one likes and what works right for the job, for that person...

Thats the great thing about rifles, we have lots of choices, and can try diff stuff till we find the "right one for the job". Let us know what ya think after you shoot it, and pack it around for awhile. I would be interested in your opinion.
